Today we will feature yet another ten dazzling pictures from the
lifetime’s work of paintings by the prominent artist of Ibiza, Vicente
Ferrer Guasch.
I
refer to the vocation of Ferrer Guasch as dazzling, simply because, in
the vast majority of his brilliant paintings there is absolutely no sign
whatsoever of any form of life. His work gives the impression that it
was painted and finished during the siesta time at the height of
the Ibiza midday sun when sensible folk are indoors. In each painting
there is no evidence of men, women, children, cats, dogs, birds and even
the insects are hiding from the intense heat and the radiant glare of
that huge ball of yellow fire in the clear blue sky over the
Mediterranean.
These ten pictures along with the ten that we published a fortnight ago
of Vicente Ferrer Guasch exceptional paintings will be added with
details when possible to the Artists on Ibiza (Twenty-Two) article by
José P Ribas, which initially appeared in Weekly Edition 077 Saturday 17th
August 2002.
