On
Thursday of this week, I once again accompanied José P Ribas on the
short five kilometre journey from San Antonio to the Art Gallery at Can
Tixedó in Buscastell.
We
went there to interview the colourful Argentinean artist, Pablo García
Albizuri and when we arrived at the Gallery at about 3 o’clock in the
afternoon, Pablo was in the process of packing up the few remaining
pieces of his creations that had not been sold as it was the closing of
his most recent exhibition.
I’m
still standing from the period of being an avid "Arnold Layne"
Pink Floyd fan and therefore my initial reaction on seeing the work of
Pablo García Albizuri, was that of Gerald Scarfe. “Another brick in
the Wall”. “We don’t need no education” to know that
the film version of The Wall, which was animated by the
cartoonist Gerald Scarfe, starring Bob Geldof, followed the album in
1982.
I
should imagine Pablo García could do much worse than give his work
designation with appropriate titles: “In the Fleash”, “Thin Ice”,
“The Happiest Days of our Lives”, “Mother”, “Goodbye Blue Sky”, “Empty
Spaces”, “Young Lust”, “One of my turns”, “Don’t Leave me now”, “Goodbye
Cruel World”, “Hey You”, “Nobody Home”, “Comfortably Numb”,
“Waiting for the worms” or “Is there anybody out there? These of
course are songs on The Wall, which was written by Roger Waters?
Nonetheless, after Pablo and I had collected our equipment, José and I
drove together and followed him to his nearby casa and workshop,
where José continued with his interview, whilst I took pictures of this
artist in his home and working environment.
